All you need to do is figure out some things about your dog. You would be really sad if your dog ran away so that is why it is so important to make sure that you pay attention and get a fence that they won’t be able to escape from. If it isn’t tall enough, they can jump over. If it’s a dangerous material they can hurt themselves. If it isn’t built right, they can knock it down and run away. Never Get These Fences For Your Dog
Now I know that sometimes in T.V. shows you see the dog behind a chain-link fence and blah blah. Okay, first, chain link fences lower the value of your home. So if you have a chain-link fence or if you were thinking of getting one. Don’t; get rid of it. Chain-link is also dangerous for your dog because of the wires. The wires of the fence could come out and poke your dog’s paw. If that happened, it would be terrible. Or if your dog tries to jump over the fence and fails? It could hurt your dog a lot. That is why getting a chain link is a very bad idea for your dog. Did I mention that it lowers the value of your home? It does; don’t get it.
The next type of fence that you don’t want to get for your dog is an invisible fence. These fences send a small shock to your dog whenever they bump into it and that is terrible. Your dog obviously can’t see the invisible fence but they can see everything else. That means that if they see something that they like, they will think that it’s okay to run and get it only to be shocked and confused. That’s like if we put a human in an invisible fence and then put a few stacks of hundred dollar bills just outside of it. There isn’t anything wrong with the human for wanting to get the money, but they’re going to get a rude shock if they try to get it. Do you see the cruelty? Don’t do this to your dog.
The Height Of The Fence
A six-foot fence is the typical height of the backyard fence to get for your dog. If your dog can jump higher than six feet… ask to send help. However, if your dog doesn’t have anything crazy going on, they should be fine with just having a six-foot fence. The height is important because you don’t want your dog to be able to run away. If they see something particularly interesting, they can jump over the fence and leave you behind. It isn’t because they don’t love you, it’s just because they want to see the world and explore new things.
If your dog is small, that’s no reason to get a fence smaller than six feet. Crazy things happen and next thing you know, your dog will be gone. Your dog can be no more than one foot off the ground, if they want out, they will find away. It’s our job to make it as hard as possible for them to get out. Right?
